What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is an innovative payment network and a new kind of money. The "death" of bitcoin has been proclaimed numerous times^[2] however the price per coin has continued to soar over the years since its inception. Bitcoin investor Cameron Winklevoss stated in December 2013 that the "bull case scenario for bitcoin is... 40,000 USD a coin".^[3]

Bitcoin is currently the most valuable cryptocurrency by both coin price and market cap.^[4]

What are faucets?
